Bio
Michael Guerzhoy is an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream in the Division of Engineering Science and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, cross-appointed to the Department of Computer Science.
Professor Guerzhoy’s research interests are in applied machine learning, mechanistic interpretability and representation learning, the applications of data science in healthcare, and the pedagogy of introductory programming, data science, and machine learning.
He was the recipient of the Best Paper Award at the Canadian Conference on Artificial Intelligence in 2014. He served as the co-chair of the Symposium on Educational Advances in Artificial Intelligence in 2021-2023 and the co-chair of Nifty Assignments at the Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE TS) in 2024-2027. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI).
