CATIA is a powerful CAD/CAM/CAE software developed by Dassault Systemes and used throughout the engineering world. Although popular in many industries including automotive, energy and industrial equipment, CATIA is most widely used in the aerospace sector where the majority of companies such as Boeing and Bombardier Aerospace use it extensively for component design, manufacturing process design, and analysis. In addition to 3D modeling, it has a wide range of capabilities including stress analysis, kinematics design, and surface modeling.
The focus of this workshop will be to provide an introduction to the 3D modeling and part assembly features of CATIA. The workshop is directed towards those who have had little or no experience with the software and would like to learn the basics of 3D part modeling and assembly using CATIA. Each section of the workshop will explain the relevant toolbars and features followed by examples which will be worked through step-by-step by the instructor and student. The workshop is intended to provide an introduction to the interface and features of CATIA relevant to 3D modeling and parts assembly that will in turn provide a solid foundation for exploring more advanced topics.
