Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible for federal (NSERC) and provincial (OGS) scholarships; OGS also accepts applications from visa students with outstanding academic records. Applications for NSERC and OGS scholarships for an academic year beginning in September must be submitted in the fall of the previous year.

As indicated in the instructions, official transcripts must be ordered from North American institutions (including the University of Toronto) and delivered to the MIE Graduate Office to be uploaded into your application. The University Designate for the Department of MIE is Brenda Fung ().
