Toronto successfully hosts 2018 Automotive UI Conference

Prof. Birsen Donmez chaired the 10th Annual Automotive UI Conference that took place Sep 23-25, 2018. Toronto hosted over 200 participants from around the world. The Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering was the conference's principal sponsor and hosted the conference's opening day of workshops in Bahen.

The SGS Conference Grant provides modest financial support to eligible students who will be actively presenting their research at an academic conference. Full instructions are available on the SGS Conference Grant webpage. The online application will be available between Monday October 1st and October 15th.

Awards & Funding

Prof. Sanjeev Chandra wins NSERC Engage grant
In collaboration with GVA Lighting of Mississauga, Prof. Chandra proposes to develop a computer program that can predict the variation of humidity inside the enclosure of LED lights when they are exposed to different external air temperature and humidity. By studying this, the project hopes to prevent the accumulation of liquid water on the electronics that could cause failure. The project starts Oct 1, 2018.

CMC Microsystems features Prof. Tony Sinclair and Master's student Neelesh Bhawal in IMPACT
CMC Microsystems highlights the work of Professor Tony Sinclair and Neelesh Bhadwal, which looks at the hardware and software aspects of ultrasonic sensors, in the September 2018 issue of IMPACT, the organization's online newsletter that showcases successes in Canada's National Design Network.

International Young Water Professionals Conference: 23-27 June 2019
The International Young Water Professionals Conference brings together 300 water, environment and related young professionals from across the globe. The conference is an opportunity to highlight how young water professionals are making an impact across the sector. Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) - Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarships; Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) - Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarships; Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) - Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships. Please read the application process and instructions carefully. Applicants must complete and submit an online application by December 3, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. (ET) using the Research Portal. Please request your referees to submit their references on-line well before the December 3 application deadline as you are unable to submit your application until both references are submitted.

Hugh C. Morris Experiential Fellowship - Deadline: January 14, 2019
The Hugh C. Morris Experiential Fellowship is designed to commemorate the life work and contributions to the fields of Geosciences, Climate Change, and Mathematics in Canada by Dr. Hugh C. Morris. This Fellowship, valued at $40,000CAD, is open to any graduate student studying in Canada who is working in a field related to earth, geosciences, environment, energy, water, climate change, social impact or design sciences related to these areas, and is designed to provide a unique experiential travel program designed by the student.
