Energy Studies, Thermodynamics, and Surface Sciences

Energy studies is an interdisciplinary area devoted to finding new methods of sustainable energy production and improving the efficiency of existing systems. It addresses issues such as scientific aspects of conventional and sustainable energy generation and use, and new fuels and energy sources.

Thermodynamics is the study of the conversion of energy into work and heat and its relation to variables such as temperature, volume and pressure. Surface Sciences pursue a better understanding of basic phenomena occurring on surfaces including all interfaces between solids, polymers, biomaterials, nanostructures, soft matter, liquids, gases and vacuum.
