Research in Engineering at the University must be aimed at:
- Generating new technology
- Improving state-of-the-art technology
- Studying hypotheses, phenomena and conjectures
- Training graduate engineers
- Helping faculty gain practical experience in particular in relation to their teaching assignments and know-how in general.
Research in Engineering at the University must not be aimed at:
- Product development
- Commercial ventures
- Restricting proliferation of results and open literature publications for commercial benefits.
