    Solid Propellant Combustion:

The thrust of a solid propellant rocket engine depends on the grain design. The grain design, namely the shape of the solid propellant, determines the mass flux out of the rocket engine. The numerical techniques that we have developed for the free surface flows were used to simulate the evolution of the flame front in very complex grain shapes. This technique is currently being used in various solid propellant rocket combustion codes.
