Current Research:
The focus of the current research is on the development of an automated stress analysis system, whereby isochromatic and isoclinic fringe patterns can be separated using image capturing and digital signal processing techniques. The separation will indicate the magnitude and directional information of stress field distribution throughout the specimen. Furthermore, the work considers two and three dimensional analysis using stress freezing techniques, allowing for the analysis of a variety of engineering components such as:

Such a system could be used in conjunction with the finite element method
to analyse, optimize, and redesign engineering components.
