Institute of Industrial Engineers - Chapter 889 - University of Toronto

About Us

IIE University of Toronto Chapter #889
Founded in 1960, originally under the name CSIE, the University of Toronto IIE Chapter is a, non-for profit, student-run organization that bridges industry and students together to promote our field as part of the International Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). We host a diverse line of events to help students get the most out of their Industrial Engineering experience at the university (see our events section for more details). As past winners of the Robert F. Moore award and Thesis competition, the UofT chapter is recognized nation wide as the most spirited and innovative of all IIE chapters. We are also known for our academic excellence and thirst to pursue knowledge.

CSIE / IEE
Canadian Society of Industrial Engineers (CSIE) was the Canadian division of the international Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). As for September 2005 the CSIE UofT chapter re branded under the name IIE. We are now directly affiliated with IIE. IIE is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial engineering profession and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity. Founded in 1948, IIE is an international, non-profit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial engineering. What is Industrial Engineering?

Industrial Engineering is concerned with the design, improvement, and installation of integrated systems of people, resources, equipments and information. It draws upon specialized knowledge in the mathematical, physical, technological and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis/design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems.
