The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering offers the following graduate degree programs:
The Ph.D. program is full-time and research-oriented. All Ph.D. candidates (Canadian and international) receive financial support in the form of fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships.
The M.A.Sc. program is full-time and research-oriented, and most appropriate for students who may wish to subsequently enter a Ph.D. program. All M.A.Sc. candidates (Canadian and international) receive financial support in the form of fellowships, research assistantships, and teaching assistantships.
The M.Eng. program is a course-based professional program that requires the completion of 10 graduate courses, or seven courses plus a project. Students can pursue this degree either on a full-time or part-time basis. M.Eng. students do not receive financial support. The M.Eng. program is directed at Canadian citizens and permanent residents; international students must hold funding from a government or employer.
This part-time program is offered collaboratively by four Ontario universities. It is targeted at practicing engineers with some industrial experience. It is available only to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
All M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. students receive financial support for the duration of their programs.
Students can specialize in collaborative programs including Biomedical, Environmental and Knowledge Media Design.
The M.Eng. program in Design and Manufacturing offers working engineers the opportunity to study part-time towards an industrially-oriented graduate degree.
