Dionne M. Aleman received her PhD in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida in 2007. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto. Professor Alemanīs research interests are in applications of operations research to medical and healthcare systems. Some of Professor Alemanīs current research programs include using mathematical optimization models to design radiation therapy treatment plans, using statistical models to predict organ motion during radiation therapy treatments, using agent-based simulation to predict the spread of a pandemic disease in an urban population and using simulation to improve the scheduling of surgeries while accounting for emergency disruptions.
