Design of an Improved Valve and Hose
System For Home Ventilators
Scope
- investigate an improved design of the valve and tubing
of a home ventilator. In particular, an hosing system which
integrates the three seperate lines into a single unit.
- investigate the design of a valve, compatible with the
integrated tubing system. The design will attempt to ensure
that performance of the valve be maintained, while at the
same time a lighter, more compact design will be investigated.
- manufacture a full scale prototype of the valve, using
rapid prototyping techniques. All computer design work will
take place at the University of Toronto, Department of
Mechanical Engineering.
- investigate suitable design alternatives for an adapter
between new integrated tube with the ventilator.
- the above designs will be guided with modern theory.
- evaluation of the valve using the lung simulator.
