* The departmental license does not include additional modules/toolboxes. Research labs may contact licenses@mie.utoronto.ca to arrange for the purchase of additional modules/toolboxes.
The software can be installed on any computer in MIE research labs and offices. Since some software has a limited number of licenses, research groups will be assigned one concurrent license, while the remaining seats will be pooled for shared access.
To request access to the software, please email the following information to licenses@mie.utoronto.ca for every computer that requires the software:
There is no need to re-register the computer(s) for a software upgrade or reinstallation. If the computer name has changed, it needs to be re-registered for license(s).
The computer name can be obtained with the command "hostname" in a Command Prompt window or in the System Properties control panel. The computer name should identify the user or research group; random or generic names will not be accepted. Change the computer name as appropriate for your group.

Please allow one or two working days for the computers to be registered for license. In the meantime you may proceed with the software installation.
The computer needs to be connected to the MIE research network to access the installation servers.
Windows XP: Start - Run...
Windows Vista/7: Start - Search Programs and Files...
(not on a web browser!)
enter the following server address:
* For COMSOL, MATLAB, ANSYS, Tecplot, Gurobi, AMPL:
\\192.168.49.217\INSTALL
* For SolidWorks, LabVIEW:
\\192.168.49.218\INSTALL
Example:

MacOS:
- "Connect to server"
- Server address: smb://192.168.49.217 or smb://192.168.49.218
- Open "INSTALL" folder
Linux:
- Networked, centrally managed linux workstations: Requested software will be installed by the system administrators.
- Standalone, self-managed linux installations:
# mount -t cifs //192.168.49.217/INSTALL /mnt
(press Enter if prompted for password)
# cd /mnt
Note: Linux requires the CIFS tools for the above "mount" command to work. For Ubuntu, for example, you need to install the "cifs-utils" or "smbfs" package.
There are further installation instructions and license information in those folders. Read and follow those instructions carefully!
