Graduating students show their Skule™ "Graditude"

Since 1983, Graditude has been as a way for graduating students to make a class pledge to give back to Skule™. Any donation is considered participation in Graditude. Students who donate a minimum of $20.12 (their class year), will receive a commemorative lapel pin, a tax receipt and the knowledge they are helping improve the student experience.

MIE Graditude Committee chairs Kathryn Tang, Iaroslav Jemchoujnikov, Amanda Bell organized a surprise "flash mob" at the MIE Dinner Dance as a graduating class gift and to help promote the campaign.

2011 University of Toronto Arbor Awards

 

Eleven alumni from the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering have been honoured this year by the University of Toronto with Arbor Awards. The awards, which recognize outstanding voluntary service to U of T, were presented at an event hosted at the official residence of University President David Naylor.

Ronald Factor, a 1970 graduate of Industrial Engineering, is a member of the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Board of Advisors and a frequent participant in the Department's annual Ace the Interview event, as well as at student and alumni networking events.

 

William Kirkpatrick has been treasurer of the Engineering Business program's Class of 1953 since he graduated from Business Engineering, and he has helped organize a number of class reunions. Bill also helped established the class of 5T3 Engineering Award Scholarship, and encourages class support for the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering.

2010 University of Toronto Arbor Award

Mr. Poirier is currently the CEO of The Poirier Group Ltd., based in Mississauga, Ontario, a senior advisory firm. He graduated from Industrial Engineering in 1981 and is a past recipient of the Faculty's 2T5 Mid Career Award. He volunteers as a member of the MIE Industry Board of Advisors, Industrial Engineering 50th Anniversary organizing committee and participates in numerous alumni and student networking events.

Anton Davies (MechE 7T2, MASc 7T4, PhD 7T7)
2009 University of Toronto Arbor Award

 

Dr. Anton Davies received an Arbor Award for his outstanding personal service to the University of Toronto. Dr. Davies is Vice President and Chairman of Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc. He volunteers as a member MIE Advisory Board and is a frequent guest lecturer in MIE design courses and seminars. He actively volunteers at student and alumni events where he enthusiastically shares his career experience.
