Mr. John H. Weber (MechE 7T9) – Chair
President & CEO
Remy International Inc.

Mr. Weber is President and Chief Executive Officer for Remy International, a leading manufacturer, remanufacturer and distributor of Delco Remy brand heavy-duty systems and Remy brand starters and alternators, locomotive products and hybrid power technology. Prior to joining Remy in January 2006, Mr. Weber was with EaglePicher, Inc., a global conglomerate of auto parts, mining, and high tech businesses, where he was President and Chief Executive Officer since 2001. Additionally, he served as the President, Industrial Control and Friction Materials for Honeywell International. He has also held significant executive and managerial positions with General Electric, Vickers, Baxter International, AlliedSignal and McKinsey & Company. Mr. Weber holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Toronto and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School. His professional affiliations include: Duke Pratt School of Engineering Board of Visitors, Young President's Organization, and Manufacturer's Alliance Board of Trustees.


 

Dr. Anton Davies (MechE 7T2, MASc MechE 7T4, PhD MechE 7T7) – Board Member

Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin (RWDI) Inc.

Dr. Davies joined RWDI in 1977 after completing his doctoral thesis for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto. During his years with the firm, Dr. Davies has provided leadership to a wide range of projects. As one of the Principals in charge of RWDI's Environmental Team, Anton has directed many of the firm's major environmental projects. He is an expert in the field of air quality and has published numerous articles concerning air pollution study and abatement techniques. He is the past chair of the Canadian Environment Industry Association (CEIA) - Ontario Chapter, a National Director of CEIA and is currently chair of their Environmental Exporters Council. He was also past chair of the Air and Waste Management Association - Ontario Section.


 

Mr. Ronald A. Factor (IndE 7T0) – Board Member
Former Partner
Deloitte Consulting

Mr. Factor specializes in procurement, manufacturing, planning & operations, distribution and transportation. He has over 25 years consulting experience with Deloitte where he was a Partner/Global Leader within Deloitte’s Global Supply Chain practice. While at Deloitte Mr. Factor made a significant financial contribution to the global consulting practice, consistently delivering significant savings, process improvements, and revenue across a range of competitive markets that led to long-term consulting relationships with global corporations including Parmalat, Sony, Nike, Wrigley’s and Bell Canada. He is Past President of the Industrial Marketing Research Association of Canada; a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, Council of Logistics Management; and a member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS).


 

Mr. Som Seif (IndE 9T9) – Board Member
President & CEO
Claymore Investments Inc.

Mr. Seif started Claymore Investments, Inc. in Canada in January 2005 and leads the implementation of the company’s business development and corporate strategies. Prior to joining Claymore, Som was an investment banker with RBC Capital Markets, where he worked since 1999. Som played a key role in developing the structured products group at RBC Capital Markets in both Canada and the U.S., where he structured and raised capital for both Canadian and U.S. asset managers. Som is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

 

Tom Woods (IndE 7T5) – Board Member
Senior Executive & Vice President & Chief Risk Officer
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)

Mr. Tom Woods graduated from the Industrial Engineering program at University of Toronto as part of the class of 7T5. Upon completion of his program at U of T, Woods moved on to acquire his MBA from Harvard in 1977. He joined Wood Gundy (a predecessor firm of CIBC) and has since worked with CIBC. Woods specialized in advising companies in the field of financing in equity and debt capital markets, and also in mergers and acquisitions. In 1999, Woods became controller of CIBC and was subsequently appointed chief financial officer and senior executive vice president in 2003.

In addition to his work life, Mr. Woods serves on the boards for 'The Canadian Opera Co.', 'Covenant House', 'De La Salle College' and 'Invest in Kids'. Woods also serves on the Board of Advisors of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at U of T.
